         The government will start implementing a 12-year compulsory education program next June, according to Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Puan Maharani.
"We are planning to implement the program beginning June 2015," the minister said after a working visit to Bandung, West Java, on Monday, as quoted by Antara news agency.
The implementation of the 12-year compulsory education program is in line with the outline of President Joko Widodo's Cabinet's educational plan.
Through the program, all parents will be obliged to send their children to school and the government has the obligation to cover all the costs and provide all the facilities needed, the minister explained.

The government will allocate Rp 404 trillion (US$34.60 billion) of the 2015 state budget to education, significantly more than the Rp 375.4 trillion allocated for the sector in 2014, 
During a speech when delivering the draft 2015 state budget at the House of Representatives on Friday, Yudhoyono emphasized the importance of education in development as it remained one of the key elements in economic development.
We are grateful that the country is able to uphold the Constitutional Court mandate requiring that 20 percent of the state budget be spent on education. We will continue to maintain it next year,” Yudhoyono told lawmakers.
Therefore, the Education and Culture Ministry will receive Rp 67.2 trillion in funding in 2015. The President further emphasized the need for the state to provide more for less-prosperous students, for example, by providing more scholarships for university students in need.
Yudhoyono also noted the improving the quality of human resources though educational methods.
“The quality of human resources in Indonesia remains a concern. Therefore, there needs to be more effort in educating workers to ensure good quality,” he said.
